Cornerstone Construction 5-Year Workmanship Warranty

What's Covered

What the 5-Year Warranty Covers

Every Cornerstone project is backed by a 5-year workmanship warranty. If something we built fails because of how it was installed, we fix it. No runaround. No charge. Coverage runs for five full years from the date we hand the project back to you and applies to workmanship by Cornerstone and our authorized subcontractors.

  • Flooring & Tile: Installation of hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, and tile — subfloor prep, layout, and setting done to spec.

  • Drywall, Paint & Trim: Taping and finishing adhesion, plus painting and trim workmanship throughout the project.

  • Cabinetry & Doors: Structural mounting of cabinetry and millwork to walls and floors, and doors hung square and operating cleanly.

  • Electrical Fixture Installation: The installation of light fixtures and devices — the fixtures themselves are covered by their manufacturers.

What Is Not Covered

This warranty applies to normal use. It does not cover damage caused by wear and tear over time or by failure to maintain indoor humidity between 35% and 50% year-round — proper climate control is the single most important factor in protecting your wood and stone finishes, and your Owner's Manual explains exactly how to manage it.

Exclusions include but are not limited to:

  • Wet mopping, steam mops, or standing water — moisture left on floors or against cabinet bases causes permanent swelling ("wicking") and is considered improper maintenance.
  • Structural settlement — hairline cracks in drywall, grout, or caulking, and doors or drawers drifting out of alignment as the house naturally settles and moves with the seasons. Homes move; this is maintenance, not a defect.
  • Cabinet hinge and drawer adjustments after the first 30 days — we dial everything in at handover; periodic re-tuning with daily use is routine homeowner maintenance.
  • Silicone and caulking after the first year — flexible sealants are a wear item; annual inspection and renewal is normal maintenance.
  • Impact, abuse, and accidents — chips, scratches, or dents caused by accidents or negligence.
  • Client modifications and third-party work — alterations after completion, or repairs made by a third party without notifying Cornerstone first.
  • External water and acts of nature — water damage from sources unrelated to our scope, and events outside our control.
  • Client-supplied materials — excluded from both material and workmanship coverage.
  • Cosmetic defects not identified at the final walkthrough — surface marks are documented and signed off together at handover.
Important Note

If you are unsure whether your issue is covered, contact us first. If it's a workmanship defect, we fix it at no cost. If it falls outside coverage, we'll tell you straight and provide an honest quote for the repair — no runaround either way.

Warranty Process

How to Make a Warranty Claim

All claims must be submitted in writing by email — this creates an official timestamped record of your request. Your warranty service email address is in your Owner's Manual. Follow our simple three-step process to ensure your claim is handled quickly and efficiently.

01

Email Your Claim

Email your claim with the subject line: Warranty Claim — [Your Project ID# and Address]. Include your project address, Project ID#, the name on your original contract, your best daytime phone number, and a brief, specific description of the issue (e.g., "Master ensuite shower — caulk peeling where the backsplash meets the counter").

02

Include Photos

Attach two photos: one wide shot showing where the issue is in the room, and one close-up of the specific defect. This lets us prepare the right tools and materials before we arrive.

03

We Schedule a Site Visit

We review claims Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. You can expect a response within 1 to 2 business days. If the issue falls within our warranty, we repair it at no cost. We confirm the scope before any work begins.

Manufacturer Warranties

Many materials we install — including custom cabinets, premium flooring, designer fixtures, and high-end appliances — come with their own dedicated manufacturer warranties. The split is simple: we warranty how it was installed; the manufacturer warranties what it's made of. If a faucet leaks internally, a flooring plank delaminates, or a hinge snaps, that's a material defect covered by the manufacturer.

  • Cabinetry finish and hardware guarantees
  • Flooring material structural warranties
  • Appliance mechanical and electronic coverage

We maintain meticulous records of every product and serial number installed during your project. If you ever need documentation to support a manufacturer claim, our team will promptly provide the necessary records and assist you in navigating the process.

One thing we're upfront about that most contractors bury in fine print: if a manufacturer replaces a defective part at no cost, the labour and service call to remove the failed part and install the replacement aren't covered by the manufacturer or our workmanship warranty — that service is billed at our standard rates. You'll always know the number before we book the visit.

Product Documentation & Support

Our commitment to quality extends beyond the construction phase. By sourcing materials from reputable manufacturers, we ensure that your home is built with components that are backed by industry-leading protection plans, giving you long-term peace of mind for your renovation.
